Competitive Bible quizzing
What is Memr.is?
Memr.is (say it “memorize”) is a modern Bible quizzing and Scripture memory platform for high-stakes competitive ministry programs. It replaces paper flashcards, leftover software, and the old way with one app: study decks, solo quizzes, live team matches, VerseReels, leaderboards, and tools for parents, coaches, pastors, and church admins.
Built for the five programs families already quiz in: WPF, UPCI, National Bible Bee, Bible Bowl, and Awana. Desktop, web, iOS, and Android — so the next generation of quizzers is not stuck in the last one.
- VerseReels™ Short-form verse review in a feed quizzers will actually open — not another stack of paper cards.
- Live team matches Host and join quizzes with real program formats and scoring. Practice like the meet.
- Fourteen study modes Decks, solo quizzes, a Bible reader, and concordance — the study stack that retires the old toolkit.
- Coach, parent, and church HQ Practice plans, parent dashboards, and org admin for the adults who run a program.

Questions
The stuff everyone asks first.
What is Bible quizzing?
Competitive Bible quizzing is a church-based memory sport. A quizzer memorizes an assigned portion of Scripture, then answers on it at events their program runs — often on a team, under a clock, on a lockout board. Formats differ: WPF, UPCI, National Bible Bee, Bible Bowl, and Awana each set their own divisions, translations, and rules. It started in Kansas City in 1946.
How does Bible quizzing practice work on Memr.is?
In three steps: study your assigned portion with decks and fourteen study modes, practice with VerseReels and solo quizzes in real Bible-quizzing formats, then compete in live team matches with real scoring. Coaches, parents, and church admins get the rooms that run a team.
When does Memr.is launch?
Memr.is is in open beta. Anyone can join at beta.memr.is.
Which quizzing programs does Memr.is support?
Memr.is includes pre-release 2027 study support for WPF Bible Quizzing (Equipped for Every Battle) and UPCI Bible Quizzing (Lift Up), plus mapped WPF and UPCI Ignite practice forms. The program organizations remain the source of truth for official curriculum, rules, eligibility, and tournament decisions.
How much will Memr.is cost?
Memr.is is free during beta. Paid-plan prices and terms will be published before billing begins, and joining the beta never creates a payment obligation.
Is Memr.is safe for kids?
Memr.is is designed with age tiers, guardian consent, scoped visibility, and no direct messages, public comments, ads, or user-upload stranger feed. Under-13 access is unavailable during beta and requires an expressly approved guardian-cleared flow.
Where did Bible quizzing start?
Competitive Bible quizzing started in Kansas City in 1946, when Youth for Christ leaders Jack Hamilton and Mary Jeanne Hamilton opened high school Bible Clubs and introduced a competitive New Testament quiz. Memr.is is a Kansas City company publishing that history and building the modern platform for the sport.
How do I get started in Bible quizzing?
See which program your church already quizzes in, talk to a coach, parent, or pastor, then read that organization's official requirements. Memr.is is the study and practice platform; it does not decide eligibility or replace any official rulebook.
How do I become a Bible quizzer?
Join a local church team, learn your program's division and this year's official material, and practice like the meet. Quizzers 13–17 can join the Memr.is beta with a guardian flow; younger quizzers are covered by a parent or legal guardian. Coaches cannot sign a child up in a parent's place.
How do I become a Bible quiz coach?
Get your church's blessing, pick the program that church will quiz in, and use that organization's official coach and season materials. Memr.is gives coaches assignment, readiness, and live practice matches. Coaches cannot provide parental consent for a minor.
How do parents and churches start a quiz team?
The church chooses the official program. A parent or legal guardian covers every young quizzer. Self-signup is for ages 13 and up, and a coach cannot complete the guardian-consent flow. Memr.is documents age tiers and consent on the Safety page.
Does Memr.is run official Bible quizzing tournaments?
No. Memr.is is an independent study and practice platform. Program organizations remain the source of truth for official curriculum, eligibility, scoring, rules, and tournament decisions, without implied endorsement or affiliation.
