Get started
How to get started in Bible quizzing.
You do not need leftover software or a stack of paper cards to begin. You need a program, a church or team, and a way to study the season material.
Competitive Bible quizzing is a church-based sport. A quizzer memorizes an assigned portion of Scripture, then answers under a clock on a lockout board. Programs differ in age bands, translations, and tournament paths. The method is the same.
Memr.is is the modern study and practice platform for that work. It does not replace any official rulebook, and it does not decide who is eligible to quiz.
-
See which program your church already quizzes in.
Most families start inside a church that already fields a team. The five programs Memr.is is built around are WPF Apostolic Bible Quizzing, UPCI Bible Quizzing (ALJC churches quiz those same listings), National Bible Bee, Bible Bowl, and Awana. Open the program profile on this site, then follow that organization's official pages for eligibility and the current season.
-
Talk to a coach, parent, or pastor.
A quizzer does not join a national tournament from a website form. They join a local team. Ask who runs quizzing at your church, or ask a pastor to help you find a nearby team in that program.
-
Read the official requirements for that program.
Age divisions, translations, registration, and meet rules come from the program organization — not from Memr.is. Each profile on this site links to those official pages and does not reproduce packets, verse listings, or rulebooks.
-
Set up study on Memr.is.
Adults and quizzers 13–17 can join the public beta at beta.memr.is. A parent or legal guardian covers a younger quizzer; coaches and church leaders can request team access but cannot provide parental consent. Then study the season portion with VerseReels, fourteen study modes, and live practice matches.
- Memr.is never asks a child under 13 to create their own account.
- Official program organizations remain the authority for rules, seasons, and eligibility.
