What this orientation is
This note is for a parent or coach whose church is looking at UPCI Bible Quizzing for 2027. It stays inside official Youth Ministries language and the North American Junior and ALJC pages listed in the sources. It does not reprint a verse listing. It does not invent rulebook language. It does not speak for UPCI or ALJC.
Memr.is, pronounced memorize, is an independent practice tool. It is not an official UPCI system and it is not an official ALJC system. A church can run this season with official materials alone.
Who quizzes where
UPCI Youth Ministries presents Bible Quizzing as a discipleship ministry based on memorizing and applying the Word of God. Two youth divisions are stated there in plain numbers:
- Intermediate Division is open to ages 12–14
- Experienced Division involves ages 12–18
Beginner and Junior competition runs through North American Junior Bible Quizzing. If your student is younger than the Youth Ministries divisions, start at NAJBQ, not by guessing an age band this note does not have.
Churches and people who have never quizzed can enter through Ignite. Official pages present Ignite as a no-experience-required path. The new-to-quizzing overview is the companion door for purpose, divisions, and the tournament season at a high level. District coordinators remain the listed contact for teams getting started. This site will not invent a coordinator name or a signup deadline.
Lift Up: a 2027 study on Psalms
The 2027 season is Lift Up. Official resources present it as a study on Psalms. The resources page is the place for the current listing and the Lift Up brand package. Points of Interpretation are announced for late 2026. When that document appears, it appears there, not in a blog post that tries to guess it.
We will not reproduce the Psalms listing, question packets, or study-guide language. Official organizers own those pages. A coach’s job is to send families to the listing, then practice what that listing actually contains.
The 2027 North American Bible Quiz Tournament
The 2027 tournament page publishes a clear window:
- July 23–27, 2027
- The Galt House, Louisville, Kentucky
- Intermediate and Experienced finals on Tuesday, July 27
- North American Youth Congress on July 28
Those are the venue and dates we will name, because they are official. District events and any other 2027 gatherings belong on official calendars. We will not invent them.
A local team should still think of the year as a discipleship year first. Louisville is a published national weekend, not a reason to skip the weekly hour in September.
ALJC churches that use the same listings
ALJC Bible Quizzing uses verse listings determined by the UPCI Senior and Junior Bible Quizzing committees. ALJC still runs its own August–June season, monthly district tournaments, and June nationals at the General Ministry Conference.
That split matters for a church admin. The listing may look familiar. The calendar, eligibility, and June event are ALJC’s. Do not register an ALJC team only on a UPCI form and assume the seasons match. Do not invent ALJC age bands or team sizes in this orientation. The ALJC home page remains the authority for those details.
Memr.is does not replace ALJC eligibility, district events, or June nationals.
What a parent should expect
A Psalms year is a long walk. Families should expect a weekly church practice, a home review habit, and travel to events the official body runs. Guardian consent for a minor is not optional if the student will use a digital tool. A coach cannot give that consent. See Safety, for families, and minor protections.
The parent room is a window, not a gradebook. If you use Memr.is, you may see due reviews and weekly minutes. You should not use that window to relitigate the coach’s lineup in the van.
At home, ask for spoken Psalms, not a highlighted screenshot. Keep the official listing where the student can find it. Protect sleep before a tournament weekend. Cheer the work even on a week when the scoreboard is quiet.
What a coach should do first
Read become a coach. Then stay official:
- Confirm the church’s blessing and the right door: Ignite, Youth Ministries, NAJBQ, or ALJC
- Open the 2027 resources page and take only what it offers for your division
- Set a weekly hour families can keep
- Register through official channels, without a deadline invented here
Practice can stay 60–90 minutes. Opening, new verses, recall, a short mock, a close that names next week. The Pace Planner can split a listing you already have. What this tool will not claim
Memr.is will not claim official UPCI scoring. It will not treat a practice Match as the North American tournament. There are no DMs. Guardian consent remains required for minors. Official pages in the sources below remain the live authority.
