The feature

What is it?

One account, and you're in everywhere: no "not another login" sigh required. Sign up with your email or one tap through a social provider, and the same account follows you from the web app to the iOS and Android apps. Behind the curtain, we take the trust part seriously: social sign-ins are brokered through Firebase, and Memr.is checks every token's signature, issuer, audience, and expiry, accepting only providers on the platform's enabled-provider allowlist. But here's the part that matters most: your account is created and owned by the Memr.is identity service, not the provider. Providers are a door, never a cage: link several to one account, see each one's last-login time, and unlink any you've stopped using.

When you're ready to lock things down, the locks are already there. Add a passkey for passwordless sign-in, complete a quick challenge when something needs extra proof, and tuck away recovery codes for the day your phone takes a swim. Your account page lists every active session (device label, client kind, and last-seen time, with the one you're on clearly marked), and any session you don't recognize can be signed out with one click.

And because everyone should really mean everyone: a keyboard-reachable accessibility drawer sits on every signed-in screen with nine controls: light, dark, or system theme, a text-size slider from 80% to 200%, reduced motion, high contrast, a dyslexia-friendly font, underlined links, enhanced focus outlines, increased text spacing, and larger tap targets. The core settings sync to your account, so the setup you dialed in on the couch is already waiting on the church iPad.

If you're a quizzer

New phone, who dis? Your account already knows.

Sign in with one tap

Same social provider (or email) you used on the web, and boom: decks, mastery, streaks, stickers, all just there. One account, zero rebuilding.
Sign out the old phone

Your account page lists every device with when it was last active. Find the phone you traded in and cut it loose.
Make it yours

Accessibility drawer, top bar. Slide the text size till it actually reads right, pick your theme, turn on reduced motion if the animations are doing too much. It syncs to your account: your next device shows up already set.

If you're a parent

You're the family's unofficial IT department. Here's the short checklist.

Pick the door together

Help your quizzer sign up with email or a social provider your family's okay with. You can link a second provider to the same account later: two ways in, one account, nothing to migrate.
Lock your own account

Add a passkey and stash your recovery codes somewhere you'll actually find them. Passkey security is available on adult accounts, and since yours is the one that grants consent, it deserves the deadbolt.
Audit sessions now and then

That tablet you donated last spring? If it still shows up in the sessions list, sign it out from your account page in one click.
Tune accessibility per kid

For the right kid, the dyslexia-friendly font or larger tap targets are the difference between fighting the app and loving it. Set it once in the accessibility drawer, and it follows their account to every device.

How do I sign in to Memr.is?

With your email and password, or one-tap social sign-in through the providers the platform has turned on. Either way, you get one account that works across the web app and the iOS and Android apps, with passkeys and recovery codes available when you want extra security.

If I sign up with a social provider, does that provider own my account?

No. Firebase brokers the sign-in (checking each token's signature, issuer, audience, and expiry), but your account is created and owned by the Memr.is identity service. You can link several providers to the same account and unlink any of them later; the account stays yours either way.

Can I see which devices are signed in to my account?

Yes. Your account page lists every active session with its device label, client kind, and last-seen time, and marks the session you're using right now. If you spot one you don't recognize, you can sign it out immediately.
