The feature

What is it?

Open Quiz and build the drill you actually want. Toggle any mix of eight question types, or leave them all off and get a little of everything. Pick a difficulty from easy to tough. Choose 5, 10, 15, or 20 questions. Then aim it anywhere: the whole Bible, just your portion's books, or a study deck's verses, in your translation. Feeling locked in? Flip on timed mode and every question gets a 30-second clock. Real-round pressure, right on your couch.

The eight types are the ways quizmasters actually ask: quote the verse word for word, name the reference of a quote, finish the verse from its opening, multiple choice, true/false, fill-in-the-blank, 'according to' recitations, and book-and-chapter drills. And difficulty isn't a vibe: every question is rated from its own verse's structure (how many words, how long they are, how much of the text you have to produce), so 'tough' is genuinely the final boss tier. Under the hood: hundreds of thousands of pre-generated question specs, stored version-independently and rendered live in your translation.

Grading happens on the server, word by word. Your quiz session travels as a signed token that carries no answers: the correct answer is worked out server-side at grading time, so there's nothing in your browser to peek at. And when you miss? You get a coach-grade correction: every missing word, every near-miss swap, every extra word you added, highlighted, with partial credit for how close you came. No flat zeros for almost.

How you'll use it

If you're a quizzer

It's a random Tuesday night. The portion's posted. Tournament's six weeks out, and you've got twenty free minutes.

  1. Build your drill

    Open Quiz and tap the question types you want to face tonight (say, direct quote and finish-the-verse). Set difficulty to hard. Count: 10. That's your gauntlet.

  2. Aim it at your portion

    Pick your translation, then select just your portion's books (or leave the filter empty and let the whole Bible come at you). Feeling brave? Flip on the 30-second timer.

  3. Answer under pressure

    Quote one verse cold. Finish another from its opening line. Name the reference on a third. The mix keeps rotating, so you can't autopilot.

  4. Read every correction

    Miss one and you see your answer diffed against the verse, word by word: what you dropped, what you swapped, what you invented. Close counts: near-misses earn partial credit instead of a flat zero.

  5. Bank the win

    Land on a score screen with your accuracy and XP for every correct answer, plus a bonus if you ran it perfect. And every attempt feeds straight into that verse's mastery.

If you're a coach

You can't sit next to every quizzer every night. The quiz engine can.

  1. Prescribe the exact setup

    Send the team one sentence: 'Ten questions, hard, direct quote and according-to only, our portion's books.' Everyone drills the same target, and setup takes thirty seconds instead of a practice-night huddle.

  2. Raise the floor on a schedule

    Start the season on easy or medium, then step up a tier every few weeks. By districts, the tough questions feel routine.

  3. Make corrections the homework

    Ask quizzers to bring their word-level corrections to practice. You'll see exactly where the wording breaks down (the dropped 'therefore,' the swapped 'shall') without re-quizzing anyone yourself.

  4. Watch it flow into your roster view

    Every graded answer updates per-verse mastery and flags the weak verses, so your next practice plan builds itself from real quiz data instead of guesswork.

What question types does the Memr.is solo quiz have?

Eight: direct quote, reference-of-quote, finish-the-verse, multiple choice, true/false, fill-in-the-blank (cloze), according-to, and book-and-chapter. Each is rated across four difficulty levels, and you can toggle on any mix for a quiz.

How does Memr.is grade quiz answers?

Every answer is graded server-side against your translation, word by word. The correction view highlights missing, wrong, and extra words, and similarity-based partial credit rewards close answers. The signed quiz token contains no answers, which reduces one client-tampering path but does not prevent outside assistance, automation, account sharing, or every form of cheating.

Can I quiz just my assigned portion?

Yes. A solo quiz can pull from the whole Bible, from only the books you select, or from a study deck's verses, in the translation your program uses. Coaches can also assign preconfigured practice quizzes to the team.

How are quiz difficulties determined?

Each question is rated easy, medium, hard, or tough based on the structure of its verse: word count, average word length, and how much of the text the question type makes you produce. Reciting a long verse rates harder than recognizing a short one, so difficulty stays consistent and never feels random.
